It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of George “Jerry” Thomas Hollywood. Peacefully at the Perth Hospital on July 15th, 2023 with his family by his side at the age of 88 years.
Jerry is predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara of 62 years, his son Bradley and his brother Bob (Kathy). Jerry is survived by his son David (Julie) and his brothers Terry (Bonnie) and Bill (Sandra). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Cassidy, Kayla (Jayden), Chloe and Brooke.
Barb and Jerry were married on August 22, 1959 in St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Brooke, Ontario. In their 60th year of marriage, they gathered once again in the presence of their family to renew their vows.
In their lifetime together, Barb and Jerry spent 6 years in Belleville, 31 years in Amherstview, 16 years in the Pine Arbour Estates in Port Elmsley, 5 years at the Gallipeau Centre in Smiths Falls and many happy hours at their cottage on St. George’s Lake. The past year and a half were spent in Perth with his grandchildren Kayla and Jayden where he had a “grandpa suite” in their home.
Jerry was a highly respected foreman at Celanese (Millhaven) for many years. He also worked on the CP railroad (signals) and was a volunteer firefighter for the Amherstview Fire Department. Jerry loved the outdoors and remained active in fishing and hunting throughout his retirement...although some would say he never truly retired. Jerry was a jack of all trades and was always building or fixing something for his friends and family.
To know him is to love him.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends at Goodfellow's Funeral Home, Parham on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 from 12-1pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1pm. Interment at Oconto Cemetery. Online memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.goodfellowsfuneralhome.com
